About sexual identity & gender: informed practices for Professionals working with autistic individuals
Sexuality is an essential part of every person’s well-being and identity, yet for autistic people it is often addressed with limited awareness and inadequate tools.
The F.A.C.T.S. project aims to provide professionals working with autistic individuals with training grounded in scientific evidence, respect for diversity, and relational competence. Through research activities, educational materials, and an online platform, the project promotes an inclusive and up-to-date approach to sexuality, fostering more attentive, respectful, and informed educational and professional environments.
Objectives
The F.A.C.T.S. project aims to develop a comprehensive Guide on Sexual Issues for professionals working with autistic individuals. It seeks to improve their knowledge, challenge misconceptions, and promote respect for the sexual identity and gender diversity of people with autism. The project supports sexual well-being, prevents inappropriate behaviours and harassment, and provides innovative educational tools and EU-standard materials to empower professionals and foster inclusion.
Target groups
The project targets professionals working with autistic individuals—enhancing their knowledge and gender-sensitive practices—and adult autistic beneficiaries, who will actively contribute through their experiences and perspectives on sexuality, gender identity, and expression.
